After graduating, Bangash returned to Pakistan to pursue a career in the arts. His debut theatrical production, Baraf Paani, won Best Production at the I Am Karachi Theatre Festival, and was invited to perform at the National Academy of Performing Arts International Theatre Festival. The original play was a critical and commercial success, touring cities throughout Pakistan in 2015.
In 2016, Bangash began pre-production on his debut short film, Rang Raaz. The film was successfully financed through a Kickstarter campaign and selected as an IndieWire Project of the Week, as well as featured in The Huffington Post and The Fader. The short film was purchased for television broadcast by ZEE TV.
Bangash’s latest short film, Dia, had it’s world premiere at the 71st edition of the prestigious Locarno Film Festival as part of the Open Doors Screenings curated by Venice Film Festival programming consultant, Paolo Bertolin. Bangash’s feature project in development, FLAME, was also selected for the Locarno Open Doors Lab. Dia is currently touring internationally, and has it’s UK premiere at the upcoming London Short Film Festival.
Bangash is a Qalambaaz Screenwriting Fellowship Alumni (2016) and recently completed his fellowship with the Film Talents: Pak-Afghan Voices program by Goethe Institut & Prince Claus Fund (2017-2018).

This film has literally shocked me….If I had to award a prize, I would give it to this filmmaker for making tangible the mental discomfort, pain and anguish of the protagonist.
