Based in Toronto, CITYLIGHTS MEDIA is a production company specializing in innovative and socially-driven content. We are deeply interested in creating cinema that amplifies marginalized voices and explores life at the peripheries and in transgressive spaces.

Our debut feature film, IN FLAMES, had it’s world premiere at Cannes Director’s Fortnight 2023. The film was Pakistan’s return to Director’s Fortnight after 47 years, and Pakistan’s Official Entry for ‘Best Picture’ at the Academy Awards ® 2024.

Described as “A Revelation” in Variety, “A Haunting Tale of Oppression” in The Hollywood Reporter and “Masterful” in IndieWire, it was the 2024 Canadian Screen Award Winner for Best Debut Picture.

Upcoming projects include Zarrar Kahn’s sophomore feature, SUFFERING IS OPTIONAL – in collaboration with LBG Films, Elizabeth Hand’s A HAUNTING ON THE HILL limited series, and Mohammad Ali Hashmi’s debut short, AN ACT OF LAMENTATION.
